Andy Warhol Painting
Submitted by: Modern Man , Fargo ND
Materials Required:
Canvas,clear acrylic,glow pigments
Procedure:
I have been experimenting with various kinds of glow pigments since 1990.
With the advent of 'strontium aluminate with europium as a doper' ( I just love saying that) the
creative possibilities are inexhaustible. As far as the mixing of my glow-powder with clear-
acrylic is concerned; I do it intuitively until I feel it's right.
The most amazing thing
about this particular painting is when you look at it in the light through a pair of ruby red
glasses the image is reversed (yellow becomes dark and the red becomes light) simular to when you
look at it glow in the dark. But it only works in person. I just tried it on my monitor and the
phenomena does not carry over. Anyway I had no idea that I had created a visual phenomena until
one day the lady I sold it to told me her 5 year-old boy was alone in the livingroom dinging
around with a pair of red glasses when he suddenly looked at my painting and cried-out "Mom- you
gotta come here and see this; your paintings' doing weird stuff!"
